Gender Identity, Variance and Expression Workshop
The Provincial Advisory Committee on Child Abuse (PACCA) was pleased to offer a free educational workshop intended to support service providers and their invited partners who work with youth.
The workshop, entitled "Gender Identity, Variance, and Expression" occurred on April 16, 2010. The keynote presenter, Mr. Chad Smith is from the Rainbow Resource Centre.
This presentation provided information on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression; to assist service providers to recognize and understand the impact of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying; as well as recognition of personal bias; understanding of gender inclusive environments including accommodations and safety; and to inform on adaptations which recognize gender inclusivity (policy, environment, curricula). A question and answer period was also included.
